What is PrepPath?+

PrepPath is an online practice platform designed to help P6 and P7 pupils in Northern Ireland prepare for the Transfer Test. It combines realistic Maths and English practice with explanations, targeted Focus Areas, progress tracking and full timed papers to help children build their skills, exam technique and confidence.

What can my child practise?+

The app covers the core Maths and English skills children need for Transfer Test preparation, including Number, Fractions, Measurement, Shape, Data & Graphs, Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling, Vocabulary and Comprehension.

Who is the app designed for?+

The app is designed primarily for P6 and P7 pupils preparing for the Northern Ireland Transfer Test, along with the parents supporting them. The practice is deliberately aimed at genuine Transfer Test level rather than being made easier simply because a child is in P6.

Are the questions similar to the real Transfer Test?+

The practice is designed around the skills, styles and level of difficulty children need to become familiar with when preparing for the Transfer Test. We don't claim that our questions are official SEAG questions. PrepPath is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by CCEA or the SEAG consortium.

How do I get started?+

Create an account and your child can begin practising straight away. There's no complicated setup or assessment required before they can start. As they complete practice, the app begins building a clearer picture of their performance across different topics and skills.

What is Topic Practice?+

Topic Practice lets your child work on one particular area at a time. It's useful when they want to strengthen a specific skill, revisit something they find difficult or practise something identified through their Focus Areas.

Do I need to enter card details for the free trial?+

No. You can try the app without entering card details.

What is a Quick Challenge?+

Quick Challenge mixes questions from across the practice library into a shorter session. It's a useful way to practise a range of skills without sitting a complete timed paper.

What devices can we use?+

PrepPath runs in a web browser, so it can be used on compatible laptops, desktop computers and tablets.

What are the full practice papers?+

Full papers recreate the experience of sitting a complete Transfer Test-style paper under timed conditions. There are no hints or Ask Tutor assistance during the paper, helping children practise working independently and managing their time. Once the paper is finished, they can review their results and see where marks were gained and lost.

Do we need to install an app?+

No. There's nothing to download or install. Simply sign in through your browser.

Can my child get help while practising?+

Yes. During normal practice, Ask Tutor can provide support when your child gets stuck. This support is deliberately unavailable during full timed papers so that those sessions remain as realistic as possible.

What are Focus Areas?+

Focus Areas help identify the topics and skills that currently need the most attention. Rather than expecting parents to work this out from individual scores, the app uses your child's recent practice to highlight weaker areas and direct them towards more targeted practice.

What is Ask Tutor?+

Ask Tutor provides additional help during normal practice when your child gets stuck. Instead of simply revealing an answer, it is designed to help them understand how to approach the question.

How does progress tracking work?+

Every completed practice session contributes to your child's progress history. Performance can be viewed across different topics and skills, helping you see where they're doing well, where marks are being lost and how their performance changes over time.

Does Ask Tutor just give away the answer?+

No. The aim is to help your child think through the problem rather than immediately telling them what to select. Where appropriate, they can also access a fuller explanation to understand how the answer is reached.

Does one wrong answer automatically become a Focus Area?+

No. Focus Areas are intended to identify meaningful patterns rather than overreact to a single mistake. The aim is to provide useful guidance about where additional practice is likely to help most.

Are explanations included with questions?+

Questions include feedback and explanations so children can understand mistakes rather than simply being told that an answer was wrong.

Can I see what my child needs to work on?+

Yes. That's one of the main reasons we built the app. Rather than simply showing an overall score, the app breaks performance down into individual areas so you can see which skills may need more attention.

Can Ask Tutor be used during a full timed paper?+

No. Full papers are intended to recreate independent test conditions, so Ask Tutor and other practice assistance are switched off until the paper has been completed.

Can my child practise a Focus Area directly?+

Yes. Focus Areas are designed to turn insight into action, allowing your child to move directly into targeted practice for the skills that need work.

How much does PrepPath cost?+

Complete access is £9.99 per month. There are no higher tiers required to unlock Focus Areas, progress tracking, Ask Tutor or full timed papers.

Is my child's data safe?+

We take privacy and security seriously, particularly because the platform is designed for children and families. We only collect and use information needed to provide and improve the service, and details about how information is handled are available in our Privacy Policy.

What's included in the subscription?+

Your subscription includes access to the full Maths and English practice library, Topic Practice, Quick Challenges, Focus Areas, Ask Tutor, progress tracking, full timed papers and detailed results.

Does my child need their own email address?+

No. The account is managed by the parent or guardian, so children do not need to provide their own email address to practise.

Can I try it before paying?+

Yes. You can explore the app before committing to a paid subscription.

Is PrepPath an official SEAG product?+

No. PrepPath is an independent practice platform. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by CCEA or the SEAG consortium. Our practice is designed to help children prepare for the Transfer Test, but our questions and practice papers are not official SEAG materials.

Is there a minimum subscription period?+

No. There is no long-term contract or minimum subscription period.

How do I cancel my subscription?+

You can cancel your subscription at any time without being tied into a long-term commitment.

Can one subscription cover more than one child?+

Not currently. Each subscription covers one child. If you're preparing more than one child for the transfer test, each will need their own subscription.
